ENVIRONMENTAL ACCIDENT, WHO YOU "GONNA" CALL?

Environmental accidents happen every day.  If you witness an environmental accident such as the discharge of a chemical or oil into a storm drain, the release of a toxic substance into a reservoir, sighting medical waste on a beach or a train derailment or a leaking pipeline, what should you do?

You should call the National Response Center (NRC): 1 (800) 242 8802.   The NRC is an institution created to act in environmental emergencies 24 hours a day, all year long; it keep records on environmental accidents and provides up to date information to federal and state agencies.  After the NRC gets your call, it will pass your information to federal and state officials who will investigate your report.

So, if you see an environmental accident, who you gonna' call?  Please call the NRC and the Waterborne Disease Center.

You can also report online at: http://www.nrc.uscg.mil/online.htm.

More information on the NRC is available at www.nrc.uscg.mil.
