January 17, 2000 Dear Dr. Rossomando, Thank you so much for researching the chemical Fluridone for me! I would be interested in having some of the more shallow wells around Lake Garda tested for that chemical. If you would write back to me and let me know how that program works, if I could collect the sample or someone would have to come out to collect the samples? I would appreciate it! I do have another question for you: For this coming season our applicator is recommending the pesticide 24D, which he feels is more aggressive and more effective because our weed problem is so bad. On one hand I have heard that 24D is a derivative of agent orange, on the other hand I have heard that the real name is ester24D and it has no relation to agent orange. I think there would have to be a ban on using lake water for gardens and maybe swimming for the season? Judith Singer at the DEP strongly advises not using this chemical because there is potential for human health threat, especially to shallow wells around the lake. Dr. Rossomando, I am very concerned with this matter primarily because I have looked at some water maps and I know this area has GAA rated water (or something like that) I would really hate to compromise that quality for something like lake weeds!! Thank you so much for the assistance, information and time you have given the residents of Lake Garda! Regards,
