Consumer Alert

January 4, 2002: The WDC was recently informed of problems with the GE SmartWater Softener System (models GXSF27B and GXSF39B). Homeowner reports the system leaked styrene into the drinking water and that family members suffered intestinal aliments. Also use of water in shower resulted in strong odor. Homeowner reported problem to GE and the system was removed by the company and aliments and odors disappeared.

The WDC would be interested in learning about others who have had experiences with this product. Please send your information directly to the WDC.  Click to send email to us.
