Q: Is bottled water always safer than tap water?

A:  No.  Tap water is sometime safer.  Read this story.

Q: The DEP and local departments of health sometimes close swimming areas due to bacterial overloads and the impairment to human health caused by this bacteria. Is it safe to eat fish caught from these same waters when there is a closure?

A: The answer depends on how long the water has been contaminated and how you eat the fish. If the water has only been contaminated for a few days and you cook the fish thoroughly to kill any bacteria, you should suffer no affects. However if you eat the fish raw, this could cause illness and I would advise against this practice. I would avoid eating fish from water that has been contaminated for prolonged periods of time, like weeks and especially months to years.
